Biography
Fernando Fracassi is a multifaceted Italian artist known for his virtuosity as a flutist, piccolo and recorder player, multi-instrumentalist (wind midi controller, guitar, oud, keyboards, piano, synthesizers, percussions, E- bass, and live electronics), as well as his contributions as a writer, essayist, poet, content creator, music critic, mentor, producer, university educator and practictioner in Alexander Technique, Imagery and Music and Stanislawsky Method for actors with Music Integration.
He studied flute with Alessio Persichilli (Campobasso, Italy), William Bennett (London, UK), Conrad Klemm (Winterthur, Switzerland) and Arrigo Tassinari (Rome, Italy), chamber music with Luciano Cerroni (Rome, Italy), and conducting with Emil Simon (Cluj-Napoca, Romania).
With a career spanning continents, his performances as a soloist on flute and piccolo have graced prestigious venues worldwide, including Rockefeller Center in New York (Columbus Day 2004), Hong Kong City Hall (2015), and Parco della Musica - Santa Cecilia Main Hall in Rome, where he had the honor of performing in the presence of President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi (2004).
Among his notable performances are appearances at the Breda Golden Festival in Holland, where he played for Her Majesty Queen Beatrix (2005), and at the private residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said in Muscat (2010), where he served as a flute mentor for the Royal Oman Symphony Orchestra and Muscat Royal Philharmonic Orchestra for four years (2009 - 2013).
Fernando Fracassi's collaborations extend to renowned institutions such as New York University, Southern Mississippi University (USA), Oradea´s State University (Romania), Niederrheim University (Germany), University of South Africa (UNISA), La Sapienza University of Rome (Italy), King Abdullah University for Science and Technology (KAUST) (Saudi Arabia), Daniel Barenboim-Edward Said Foundation (West Bank), Romanian Academy (Rome, Italy), Dante Alighieri Society (Stellenbosch, South Africa), Goethe Institute (Muscat, Sultanate of Oman), and Italian Institutes of Culture (various countries) where he conducted masterclasses and annual courses on Flute and Piccolo or Chamber Music and conferences, seminars and workshops of Comparative Arts, Music and Imagery, Philosophy of Music, Alexander Technique and Stanislawsky Method for Actors with Music Integration.
His rich musical background includes membership in the Cinecittà Movie Studios Orchestra of Rome, where he worked as a flutist and piccolo player under the direction of legendary composers Ennio Morricone and Riz Ortolani for several Italian national broadcasting productions, including those in the film production industry (1984-1989).

He served as Principal Piccolo Soloist with the Italian National Army Band (Rome, Italy, from 2000 to 2007), as a Principal Flute with the Philharmonic State Orchestra of Oradea (Romania, from 1990 to 1991 and 1993 to 1996), the Philharmonic State Orchestra of Târgu MureÈ™ (Romania, from 1991 to 1992), and the Molise Symphony Orchestra (Campobasso, Italy from 1998 to 2000).
As a composer, Fernando Fracassi explores various genres, including Ambient, Classical, Easy Listening, Electronic, Electroacoustic, Progressive, Soundtracks, and World Music, often blending ancient and modern flute families with ethnic instruments and electronics in both live and studio settings. He boasts an extensive private collection of seventy flutes, which he integrates seamlessly into his compositions.
In addition to his musical endeavors, Fracassi is also an accomplished playwright, combining his love for music with interesting and engaging theatrical storytelling (Narrative Concerts).
His theatrical production, "Leonardo and Music", commissioned by the Italian Consulate in Jerusalem to commemorate the 500th anniversary of Leonardo da Vinci's death, was a highlight of the official celebrations of the Italian Republic in 2019 (cf. MAE, Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Bulletin, 2019).

In the fields of Music Therapy, after nearly ten years of teaching Music Education for the Ministry of Public Education in Rome, alongside in-depth studies in Developmental Psychology and Experimental Psychology (Imagination), he developed his own method for teaching music in conjuntion with the language for infants and preschool childrens. This method, called LDM-Linguistic Development and Music was successfully implemented first in Hong Kong (Babysteps, 2015) and later introduced in the Middle East.

Specializing in Alexander Technique, Imaginative Psychology and Music applied to stress disorders and psychosomatic illnesses and Stanislawsky Method for Actors with Music Integration, he has conducted workshops in collaboration with the Imago Institute of Munich (Germany, 2014) and the Heiligenfeld Akademie in Bad Kissingen (Germany, 2017).
In 2017, Fernando Fracassi established his own firm, Fernando Fracassi Music, further solidifying his dedication to artistic innovation and excellence.
Since 2023, he has held the position of Music Consultant at KAUST, King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, based in Saudi Arabia.
